A 9:15 p.m. dinner reservation isn’t much use if you need to eat at six. [Grok Bot builder Matt Palmer shared an exchange](https://x.com/mattyp/status/2116516547007308125) in which the agent found a 5:45 p.m. opening, asked for his approval and then reported moving his reservation.

Palmer had asked it to watch for cancellations at a San Francisco bathhouse and restaurant. Have your agent monitor the webpage rather than check on your phone all day, then get your attention when there’s a possibility worth acting upon.

## Make the target specific

Give it the restaurant, party size, date and the range of times you would actually take. Include when to stop looking. An opening after you’ve already made other plans is no help.

Use Grok Bot, as Palmer did, or try Muse. Both provide a cloud computer and scheduled background work, so checking can continue while your laptop is closed. Start by asking it to check the booking page once. That establishes whether it can reach the actual availability before you ask it to keep watching.

Once that works, agree on a checking schedule and where you want the alert. Ask for a message when a matching table appears, rather than an update every time nothing changes.

## Try this

“Check [venue or booking link] for a table for [number] on [date], between [earliest time] and [latest time]. Show me what is available now. If you can check this page reliably, set up checks at [interval] until [stop time and time zone]. Alert me through [notification channel] only when a match appears or you need my help. Don’t book, pay or change a reservation without my approval.”

The same kind of request can start with a cheaper flight, a better seat on a trip you’ve booked or tickets to a sold out movie showing.

## Starter prompt

Check [venue or booking link] for a table for [number] on [date], between [earliest time] and [latest time]. Show me what is available now. If you can check this page reliably, set up checks at [interval] until [stop time and time zone]. Alert me through [notification channel] only when a match appears or you need my help. Don’t book, pay or change a reservation without my approval.
